Addressing Emotional Needs: World Children’s Day 2024
Background
Save the Children Hong Kong has chosen the theme "Caring for the Mental Health of Hong Kong Students" for World Children’s Day. Over the course of three days, the committee will deploy the "Cheer You Up Ice Cream Truck," visiting various areas each day to distribute free soft serve ice cream to students. This initiative aims to encourage students to take care of their mental health and recognise their emotional needs
Design Solution
The illustrations for Save the Children Hong Kong "World Children’s Day 2024" create a lively atmosphere through strong contrasting colour combinations. By employing bold hues, the design not only captures attention but also highlights the important issues surrounding mental health and emotional needs.
The illustrations depict various activities that reflect children’s interests and daily lives—enjoying sweets, taking breaks, playing games, and capturing moments. This approach inspires them to engage in actions that promote mental health. It aligns perfectly with the mission of World Children’s Day to advocate for children’s rights and well-being, emphasising the interconnection between joy and emotional health.
To complement the key activity, the "Cheer You Up Ice Cream Truck," the initiative will also distribute small motivational cards related to mental health, alongside promotional props for photography, ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
Strong contrasting colour combinations create a lively and dynamic atmosphere. By employing bold hues, the illustrations not only capture attention but also evoke awareness of important issues surrounding mental health and emotional needs.
